Not quite the "curb stomping" we thought, but what a finish, huh?

No matter what next year holds, this years team is making it a memorable season. Kinda reminds me of the 2007 Phillies, except this team doesn't have near the superstar talent the Phillies did...

plays like gost's sweep check are becoming the norm with him. he had the presence of mind to trap it with his glove and set up his pass because he knew he had the time and space and didn't rush. that's hockey sense. innate. can't teach it. there was the deke and wrister at the line that hit the post in regulation. he makes things happen almost every single shift he's on the ice.

i'm not watching these other calder candidates every night, but he should get legitimate consideration. so happy he's a flyer.

i end every comment about gost with a plug for provorov.....i just can not wait for this kid.

Flyers had stretches where they dominated, Jets came back and forced the issue. I've seen a few Jets games and despite the standings, they can be a difficult team to play.

Got to like getting the two points, and another pretty strong outing from Mason. Guess Hakstol is going to ride his horse until they clinch a spot.

It would be nice if Detroit and Boston lose tomorrow night.

I've already accepted the fact he's not elite nor ever will be. You should too.

2 points, that's all that matters. Now if Detroit would lose to Montreal while the Flyers are home resting, that would be pretty sweet. Right back at it Wednesday for a tough one, but hopefully the Caps take their foot off the pedal now that they have home ice locked up for the playoffs.

Exciting finish tonight.

Couts has shown some really good set up ability, not sure I love him and Jake together, but whatever.

Mase came up big when they needed him again.

Ghost and G are both clutch guys. It's going to be a lot if fun to watch them together, hopefully for a real nice run at the Cup at some point.

How many near lethal hits has Brayden Schenn survived this season? He is one tough dude.

Love it.

In any event, best case scenario, first game of the playoffs, Mase gets hurt. Put in the goalie rawer than sashimi. He poops the bucket and Oulette leads us to the promised

I love Coots and Jake together. Just not this Jake...he's skating without the power and speed we are accustomed to; he's getting knocked off pucks when battling, where usually he is a force; his decision making looks rather forced. All of this is understandable with his foot injury. We just have to remember that he put up 33 points in the last 32 games pre injury, and the Raffl-Coots-Jake line was tremendous.

I feel like a lot of people (not you) skip right over those 32 games and pretend his season was his tough start and then went straight to this. Raff is really picking up the slack right now for him. Just have to hope each day he improves. Jake has to work through his own issues, and that's not really on who are his linemates imo.

Oh and Brayden is absolutely Bruce Willis from Unbreakable. How many lethal hits, falls, friendly fire swats has he survived in his career?

I'd roll 14/93/52 - the (frank) Carter line. Put 21 with Gagner and Read. But not rally because i love Raffl. Watch that first goal tonight. Dude is a machine when it comes to forechecking.

I have always been proudly a member of Team Raffl. He's just a hard working, consistent, 3 zone Austrian army knife of a player who makes his linemates better. But he's doing things the last couple weeks he's only shown glimmers of before. I know he's always been a dump-in heavy player, even with his great skating. But my eyes tell me he's been skating it in himself a lot more...and then just forcing his way to the net with power moves, even some dangles. The board play stuff has always been his bread and butter, but he's been a heck of a power forward of late.

Can you imagine if Ghost had pulled a Jimmy Vesey? Watching him do this stuff for another team...it's too horrific to even think about!

Mark Friedman, don't be a Vesey. Though idk if he even stays to graduate. I could see him leaving early; he's probably too good for his team. When do you think he signs, Bill? After next season?

As for the Vesey comment:

They need to close that loop hole yesterday. A bunch of BS if you ask me. Should really lower the value of players in college like the KHL does. Sure it isn't as prevalent to bail as the KHL but you never know when a pattern becomes a trend. That trend could become a reality 4 years from when you draft the kid.

That all said, I hope the kid plays for the Flyers next year. I wanted Hayes, Wheeler and Shultz when they pulled this BS and I want this kid. We need young forwards that can score (like every team) if our parade is going to happen in 2-4 years as Hexy has planned.

Is it only Flyers fans who give out back handed comments to their teams like Halloween candy? Or just Hockeybuzz? Can't figure it out. You can question the execution of this team at times, but they continue to work their asses off through all three zones.

The maturation of Ghost this season in of itself has made the season satisfying. In the upcoming years, we'll find out how good the Hextall regime can continue to develop "elite" talent from the prospect pool.

Ghost single handily saved this game. And I'm not referring to his game winning play solely. We looked pretty tired at the near end of the 3rd and we were playing a more defensive game than we would have liked. And then Ghost started creating space and chances and as soon as he clunked post on that rip from the point our team got a sudden jolt back in our game. I don't mean to exaggerate the impact of this play, but I felt a loss coming up until after that play.

It wasn't pretty, but they did what they needed to do which was to come away with 2 points. Here are some observations:

Ghost is simply amazing, his skills are off the chart.

Couturier may just be the MVP of this team. If you don't think so, compare their record with and without him. He plays the toughest minutes and gets the toughest matchups every damned night, and he's been averaging nearly a point per game down the stretch.

I love the way B. Schenn has been playing since the start of 2016. No worries, he will be re-signed.

Glad to see Simmer score, hopefully he goes on one of his hot streaks.

Major props to Mason, he's doing what it takes to win games and what more can you ask of your goaltender?

AMac is just awful, it's hard to believe that Medvedev or even Alt or Morin could be worse.

Hopefully a full day off with no travel will help them recharge their batteries and they can pick up a big win over a Caps team that is playing for absolutely nothing at this point.

GO FLYERS!!
